R. v. S.L. – March 2022

Dangerous Driving

Our client was alleged to be travelling upwards of 110 km/h and stuck five construction barrels at a high rate of speed on Highway 1, causing police pursuit of the vehicle. During pursuit of the vehicle, smoke and sparks are observed by police and the vehicle was observed to be driving on only the rim of the wheel. A toxicology report detached a cocktail of drugs including GHB, Trazodone, Methamphetamine. The evidence against our client was overwhelming, but after lengthy submissions sent to Crown counsel about our client’s addiction and rehabilitative efforts since the incident, Crown agreed to a discharge with a period of probation.
