R. v. P.S. – May 2024
Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Our client was charged with assault causing bodily harm in circumstances where he became intoxicated at a night club, pushed a patron to the ground and bit a staff member (the bouncer), causing him to bleed. Our lawyers engaged in discussions with Crown Counsel, explaining our client’s personal background and his efforts at rehabilitation in addressing his relationship to alcohol, including his role in acting as a caretaker for a family member. Crown Counsel agreed to refer his court matter to Alternative Measures, a diversionary program that required a letter of apology to the bouncer. Our client completed the apology letter and Crown Counsel dropped the charges.
