R. v. J.S. – November 2023

Our client was alleged to have broken into a constructions site in the middle of the night. We argued to Crown counsel that he was homeless and was seeking shelter out of particularly bad weather after he missed the last bus to go downtown. We convinced Crown that our client didn’t have the intention to steal from the constructions site, which is an essential element of breaking and entering. We negotiated a deal to a much lesser charge of mischief and our client was sentenced to a short time served sentence.
