After an extensive police investigation including search warrants and covert surveillance, our client (along with 2 others) was arrested and charged with possession of 2 different stolen vehicles.  The case was set for a 3 day trial.   A month before the trial date we filed an application to have the charges dismissed based on a violation of our client’s right to have his trial within a reasonable time (s. 11(b) of the Charter).  We argued the case for all 3 co-accuseds.  The court accepted our arguments and the charges were dismissed against all 3.

RESULT:  no trial, no criminal record
