Our client was charged with these crimes after allegations were made that he was having sex with an underaged female. He retained a lawyer from a different law firm but was not confident in that lawyer. He came to our firm based on a recommendation from a Crown prosecutor. We advised the client to choose a different approach to the case and proceed by way of Preliminary Hearing with a later trial in Supreme Court. We then had a number of discussions with the assigned Crown about what we required the Crown had to prove at the Preliminary Hearing. Instead, the Crown chose to drop all charges shortly before the Preliminary Hearing was scheduled to begin.
RESULT: no trial, no criminal record, no conditions
